We arrived in Kona Monday afternoon, a bit worse for wear after celebrating the night before. Even the
airport is relaxing here, just a open area with palm trees swaying in the breeze. We stayed in a rental house near the south end of the island, well off the beaten path. We covered a lot of ground, putting over 1,200 miles on our rental car as we checked out nearly every corner of the island. We took in waterfalls,
valleys, turtles, rainforests, ranches, sunsets, multi-hued beaches, smoldering craters and a town buried in under
lava.
