Our first event, a hockey matchup of Finland and qualifier Belarus. The Sharks' Teamu Selanne was captain of Team Finland, and we saw a few Sharks jerseys and hats in the crowd. The Finns dominated the game, but the crowd went wild when beleaguered Belarus scored it's lone goal. "Bel-a-ROOOOS" makes for a very catchy chant. The arena was small, seating only 8,500, and over a quarter of the seating was dedicated to media. It was a great introduction to the games. |
